Share Your Telehealth StoryPalmetto Care Connections (PCC) and The South Carolina Telehealth Alliance (SCTA) work alongside many other organizations to improve the health of all South Carolinians through telehealth. While telehealth has been happening in SC for many years, it has become especially important amidst the COVID-19 crisis and its subsequent use in the state has skyrocketed. This is in part because of increased reimbursement coverage from insurers and loosening of regulations around telehealth. PCC and The SCTA want to hear from you about your experiences with telehealth! We're collecting South Carolinians' voices of support and telehealth stories to share with policymakers and the general public. Please consider showing your support for telehealth by reviewing and signing on to PCC's position statement outlined below and/or sharing your own telehealth experience. If you have questions, feel free to contact the Director of Education, Davia Smith - [email protected] Thank you!
“Prior to COVID I encountered many barriers to accessing clients and getting reimbursement for Telemental Health services. COVID legislation has removed some barriers. Now I have quicker access to clients and the telehealth services they need are.”Shameshia BentonLMSW, LISW-CP, BC-TMH Founder/Lead Therapist
“I first used telehealth this year and I was pleasantly surprised and how easy it was! From the convenience of staying home to the visit right at my fingertips, I hope to continue to use telehealth in the future!”Cassidy Hall
“Telehealth is the best! I have heard about it now for a few years but never really thought I would/could benefit from it until, the pandemic. I had to have my prescriptions refilled and did not want to expose myself to anyone so I was offered the Telehealth service through my doctors office, Bamberg Family Practice. It was the easiest, smoothest visit. Very simple to get on with no issues, and I'm not very tech savvy. I will definitely use Telehealth in the future. --”Angie Sease
“I was surprised at how smoothly my first telehealth experience went. I connected with my primary care doctor at Prisma Health using my laptop. My provider actually was able to spend more time with me than in my past face to face visits. I plan to use telehealth visits in the future whenever possible.”Marshall Moody, Jr.
“My first telehealth experience was quick and easy. I was able to connect with my healthcare provider at Bamberg Family Practice from the comfort of my own home using my [phone]. I would recommend telehealth to anyone.”Amanda Crider Nesbett
“I attend school all the way in Ohio, but South Carolina is home. Because of Covid, it’s virtually impossible to find a new doctor. Thanks to Telehealth, I can talk to my longtime physician/doctor and get my prescriptions refilled—without having to wait for holidays or to drive 8 hours back home!”Matt Maxwell
“Telehealth... another thing to add to my blessings' list! I recently had the pleasure of assisting my sister with a telehealth appointment. She was meeting with her cardiologist for the first time, and was a little anxious. It turned out to be a very good experience, and one she will look forward to for future appointments. She is especially happy that she won't have to dress and get out for an office visit. She will be able to go to the doctor in her own den!!”Ann Fairey
“Our family has benefited greatly from telehealth. My daughter has 4 therapy sessions per week, as well as the occasional appointment with various doctors and specialists. We are grateful that we have been able to continue all of her therapies, as well as follow through with appointments, in the safety of our home to lessen the risk of being exposed to COVID-19. Missing therapies and appointments during this uncertain time would be detrimental to my daughters growth and progress and we are so thankful to have it as an option.”Jennifer Robert
“My first telehealth experience allowed me to access my child’s healthcare provider at Bamberg Family Practice from the comfort of my own home using a laptop and not risk exposure to COVID-19.”Davia SmithPalmetto Care Connections
