Kathy Schwarting, MHA
Kathy has been a part of Palmetto Care Connections since its inception in 2010. As CEO, she oversees current programs and the strategic plan for PCC. With more than 20 years of rural healthcare experience, Kathy believes telehealth is one solution to improving the health of South Carolina. Kathy received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina (USC) and her Master in Health Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC).
Davia W. Smith, MHA
Davia joined the Palmetto Care Connections team in February 2014 as the Executive Assistant and currently serves as the Director of Education. Davia coordinates PCC’s Annual Telehealth Summit, Regional Meetings, and Webinars. She also assists with PCC’s Marketing and Promotion. Davia earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration at the University of South Carolina Aiken. She is a 2012 graduate of the Master in Health Administration program at the University of South Carolina’s Arnold School of Public Health.
Matt Hiatt, MSIT, PMP
Matt joined the Palmetto Care Connections team in 2015. In his role as the Chief Technology Officer, Matt manages technology solutions such as PCC's USAC Healthcare Connect Fund Program. Matt also manages all PCC Telehealth equipment presales, purchases, installation, training and ongoing support for the rural communities of South Carolina. Matt brings a wealth of knowledge to the team with over 20 years of IT experience. Matt has a Master of Science degree and a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology Management from Western Governors University. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
Ramona joined Palmetto Care Connections in March 2020 with an impressive background of nearly 30 years in business, marketing, sales and graphic design. As Program Assistant, Ramona provides administrative support, maintains financial records, and assists with marketing and education activities including website, social media, creative design, presentations and special events. Ramona has an Associate Degree in engineering graphics from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College and is well-versed in numerous computer applications.
Scott Moody, MHA
Joining Palmetto Care Connections in the Spring of 2020 as Director of Finance, Scott has more than twenty-five years of management, consulting and leadership experience in the areas of hospitals, non-profits, ambulatory surgery centers, large group physician practices and outpatient diagnostic centers. Scott received his Master of Health Administration degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston and a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the College of Charleston.
Breanna Parham, NRCMA, PCT
Breanna joined Palmetto Care Connections in November 2020 as Telehealth Coordinator. Breanna’s strong clinical experience includes positions as a Medical Assistant and Patient Care Technician for a busy Urology practice, Phlebotomist for a regional hospital, and Certified Nursing Assistant for a full-service nursing home. At PCC, Breanna assists rural, independent pharmacies, schools and medical clinics in rural churches with implementing telehealth services. She received certification as a Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) and as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
Riley Van Coutren
Joining Palmetto Care Connections in October 2021 Technical Analyst, Riley brings a variety of organizational, computer, communications and customer service skills to the team. Her previous experiences include serving as Legal Assistant at a law firm specializing in bankruptcy and Broker/Dispatcher for a worldwide shipping company. Riley is a graduate of Lexington High School and is currently working toward an Associate of Arts and Science degree at Midlands Technical College in West Columbia.
Tara joined Palmetto Care Connections as Digital Literacy Coordinator in November 2021 with more than 20 years of health care experience. A native of Bamberg, SC, she has worked in rural health care settings throughout her career. Her previous positions include Office Manager for an independent Obstetrics and Gynecology practice, Medical Staff Coordinator at a regional health care system, Medical Staff Coordinator, Credentials Coordinator, Rehabilitation Services Assistant and Registrar for a rural hospital. Tara received a Medical Office Assistant degree from Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College.
